Victory Points are the primary reward for completing maps. Obtaining them adds to your weekly and career VP counts, which met you (for weekly) cosmetics and Hall of Fame placement and (for both) clout. To get VP, you must reach victory areas. Auto-generated guest accounts cannot get VP. While all regions offer VP (except Stellar Square), not all areas offer the same amount.
